Earlier this week Canon USA revealed that two of its products had been selected as 2018 PRO Award Winners.

The two products that received the awards are the varioPRINT 140 Series monochrome digital production presses with PRISMAsync Print Server, and the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7580i colour multifunction device which features the ColorPASS-GX500 Controller. Both devices were chosen by Buyers Laboratory LLC to be 2018 PRO Award Winners, with the products receiving the following accolades:

Outstanding Light/Mid-Volume Production Device
Canon varioPRINT 140/130/115 with PRISMAsync Print Server
Outstanding Color Entry-Level CRD Production Device
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7580i with ColorPASS-GX500 Controller (EFI Fiery based)

“On behalf of Canon U.S.A., we thank BLI for recognising our celebrated devices and appreciate the honour of being named as a winner of BLI PRO Awards once again,” said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Feedback from Canon’s user base as well as test results from industry experts like BLI helps our company to continuously evaluate and evolve our products and approach to the market.”

“The Canon varioPRINT 140 Series will fit perfectly into small- to mid-size print shops and in-plants thanks to its excellent media handling and job management. It’s easy to program new media types and submit jobs, while the outstanding PRISMAsync Job Scheduler allows for the device to practically manage itself,” said George Mikolay, Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab’s Associate Director of Copiers/Production. “The ease of use, outstanding handling of text and fine lines, as well as outstanding colour consistency and price point of the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7580i, combined with the processing power of the Canon ColorPASS-GX500 controller with Fiery technology, make it an attractive offering for customers looking for an entry point in the CRD production space.”

Canon’s varioPRINT 140 Series was designed in order to provide both reliability and versatility for print environments that require both efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Its DirectPress Technology has been carefully tailored to deliver consistently high-quality images on an extensive range of media. As Canon’s press release describes, these presses allow businesses to produce “professional, finished documents” ranging from booklets to complex manuals. In addition, the PRISMAsync Print Server “allows operators to easily manage a variety of aspects, from composition to media to finishing”.

Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7580i “can integrate with intuitive software and services to provide a high-speed, dependable color solution for enterprise-level offices” and “offers speeds of up to 80/70 pages-per-minute” in black and white or color respectively. It can also scan up to 240/220 images-per-minute in black and white or color, and its integrated EFI Fiery digital front ends mean that consumers can produce an extensive range of personalized communications as well as taking advantage of performance-boosting features.
