Lyon, FR — November 19, 2024 – Alwan Color Expertise’s support for graphic arts education and training expands once again with today’s announcement that the company is donating Alwan ColorCloud access to students at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Alwan ColorCloud tools include ISO/G7 Calibration, ISO/G7 Conformance Assessment, ICC Profile Viewer, and Alwan Pinnacle Award recipient Hydra Profiling.
Alwan founder and president Elie Khoury also announced that the company’s growing donation program will add one year of free ColorCloud access to graduates of all schools utilizing ColorCloud donation access, beginning with the Class of 2024.
Professor Natalia Lumby, Chair of the School of Graphic Communications Management in The Creative School at TMU, describes Alwan ColorCloud tools as being “essential for graphic industry students today”. Lumby notes that it is very useful that ColorCloud is hosted in the cloud, which greatly reduces local costs as well as hardware and software support. Furthermore, students learn and use, she says, “the most current technologies being used by professionals in the industry today.”
Dr. Abhay Sharma, who teaches color management at TMU, says “We thank Elie and Alwan for this generous donation. I’ve personally used Alwan solutions since their inception, and now ColorCloud applications will be deeply integrated in our color management curriculum.
“Many of the digital and industrial design and production program students can benefit from learning the fundamentals of color science with Alwan’s solutions,” Sharma says.
In addition to its core business in software and solutions development, Alwan is involved in various education and training programs around the world. In 2007, Alwan established its donation program to support schools and universities offering courses in color management and standardization for the graphic arts industries. Alwan is also dedicated to research and is a member of several international committees including ISO (International Organization for Standardization), for which it provides consultancy, training, and seminars on industry standards.
Says Khoury, “We have always held the belief that education and business should work together and learn from each other. Professionals bring their industry expertise and experience, while students and professors offer fresh ideas and creativity, which is very inspiring for businesses. Alwan ColorCloud tools will help them make more informed career choices and better prepare them for the job market.
“Thanks to these partnerships, universities receive state-of-the-art tools, software and solutions that they can use in classes and labs; and many of Alwan’s partners lecture on color management and standardization. It’s a successful arrangement that benefits everyone involved,” Khoury concludes.
