MELVILLE, NY, June 1, 2026 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, recently held its annual Bird Watching Walk event for employees in collaboration with the National Audubon Society. The event was part of the company’s renowned Bird Branch Project, offering a unique opportunity to explore nature and learn about Long Island’s diverse ecosystem from expert ecologists. Continuing the growing momentum behind the company’s biodiversity and environmental conservation initiatives, the event brought together employees for an engaging afternoon focused on bird observation, environmental education, and hands-on learning.

“The continued enthusiasm for this program demonstrates how meaningful environmental engagement opportunities can inspire employees and strengthen our commitment to sustainability efforts,” said Shinya Fukuda, Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning & Communications, Canon U.S.A., Inc.  “The Bird Branch Project is a wonderful example of how education, conservation, and community can come together in an impactful way. We thank the National Audubon Society staff for working with us and offering such a wonderful ecological experience.”

During the walk, attendees used Canon binoculars to observe a variety of local bird species in their natural habitats. Staff from the National Audubon Society in New York accompanied the group and provided expert insight into bird conservation efforts, migration patterns, and habitat preservation.

“Events like the Bird Watching Walk help build a culture of conservation, using Canon’s imaging technology to bridge the gap between people and nature,” said Miranda Gonzales, public program coordinator for the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center, part of the National Audubon Society. “We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with Canon U.S.A. on these Bird Branch Project walks, helping its Melville employees to see Long Island’s unique biodiversity that exists right outside their office doors.”

The Bird Branch Project is a global initiative currently aiming to expand to 60 locations worldwide, launched in Japan by Canon Inc. in 2015. The project is dedicated to promoting environmental biodiversity and celebrating the intricate cycle of life through the appreciation of wild birds.

Canon U.S.A., Inc. began the program in 2023 at its headquarters in Melville, New York with the installation of eight nesting boxes that provide safe habitats for local bird species. In addition, the headquarters was also intentionally designed with features that encourage and support a thriving local ecosystem.

The Bird Watching Walk and Bird Branch Project are part of Canon’s broader environmental and corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at promoting biodiversity awareness and encouraging employees to actively participate in conservation-focused initiatives. Through Canon’s support of the Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon Society throughout the year, local children engage in exciting hands-on environmental experiences at local nature centers with the guidance of experienced educators and volunteers.
