~Innovations in AI, workflow and e-invoicing and a look to the future ~

Beacon, NY May 22, 2025 DocuWare, a leading provider of document management and workflow automation solutions, kicked off the DocuWorld Partner Conference 2025 in Jacksonville FL this week. The 300+ attendees experienced a learning experience like no other, including information on the state of the current market as well as the latest developments and the future of the company’s product portfolio.

During the General Session, Dr. Michael Berger, CEO of DocuWare, looked back on the successes of 2024 and spoke about the technological prospects for the future and the organizational changes to the management team that will support it. Dr. Michael Berger’s new management team, made up of Michael Bochmann, Chief Product & Technology Officer; Benedikt Dischinger, Chief Financial Officer; Uta Dresch, Chief Operating Officer and Hermann Schäfer, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer were introduced on stage.

Dr. Berger also spoke about the great potential for the four key technologies they are focussing on: Cloud & Cybersecurity, UX & Usability, Workflow & Integration and, in particular, the areas of development in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Continued focus on AI

DocuWare Partners received a comprehensive update on DocuWare Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) on the first day of the conference. Following last year’s announcement of the acquisition of AI specialist natif.ai, the focus is on the application and integration into DocuWare.

The presentation showcasing “Intelligent Insights”, the prototype of a chatbot based on its own AI technology, which will make it easier for users to find and compare documents wowed the audience. Customers will soon be able to receive summaries of document content at the touch of a button.

Innovations in the area of e-invoicing

DocuWare also presented its latest innovations in digital invoice management. Since the beginning of the year, the software has enabled the automatic processing and archiving of e-invoices sent by email. Relevant invoice data is taken directly from the XML format and used as metadata, allowing for the first time, all incoming invoices to be processed automatically in any format (e-invoice, PDF).

In addition to processing electronic invoices sent via e-mail, DocuWare has introduced integration into networks such as PEPPOL and e-invoicing platforms. By the end of the year, DocuWare will release a service offering that enables the receipt and sending of electronic invoices in a flat-rate model. DocuWare will also integrate other platforms and service providers such as Ricoh IDX into its offering and enable the use of third-party platforms for sending and transferring electronic documents. This ensures compliance with the Growth Opportunities Act, as the connection to these networks enables invoice exchange in all national standards and also allows the status of invoice processing to be transmitted to the necessary parties at any time.

Process data for workflow optimization thanks to new API

With the new Workflow Analytics API, companies can create in-depth analyses of business processes. The API delivers structured data from DocuWare that can be integrated directly into Microsoft Power BI (via the new Power BI Connector) or other analysis and integration solutions.

New web-based Workflow Designer

This is completely web-based and the modern and intuitive user interface offers improved usability with functions such as zoom, pan and multi-select, which considerably simplifies the creation of workflows.

The auto-save function automatically saves changes and the undo/redo function saves time and errors. These and numerous other improvements will be gradually introduced with the new Workflow Designer which is currently in the beta phase. The official launch is planned for fall 2025.

Sponsors of this year’s DocuWorld AMERICAS Partner Conference are ACDI, ecoprintQ, Epson and PFU.
