Ryuji Maruyama appointed as Corporate Officer, Corporate Representative – the Americas, Toshiba Corporation and Chairman & CEO, Toshiba America, Inc.

NEW YORK, NY – Toshiba America, Inc., today announced the appointment of Mr. Ryuji Maruyama as the new Chairman & CEO, effective August 1, 2021. In addition, effective July 1, 2021, Mr. Maruyama became a Corporate Officer, Corporate Representative – the Americas for Toshiba Corporation and will be responsible for expanding Toshiba’s presence throughout the Americas. He will have regional responsibility for business development, government and industry relations, and group governance, risk management and compliance.

Mr. Maruyama succeeds Ms. Ayumi Wada, who will return to Tokyo to assume the role of Corporate Officer, Corporate Vice President, and Assistant to Executive Officer for Internal Audit Division, Audit Committee Office, Toshiba Corporation. Her appointment will take effect from July 1, 2021.

Mr. Maruyama began his career with Toshiba Corporation in 1988. With more than 30 years of experience in corporate planning, business strategy development & implementation, and especially leadership roles in the Social Infrastructure and Energy business fields, Mr. Maruyama has an astute understanding of Toshiba’s core businesses and its operations. Before assuming his current role, Mr. Maruyama served as the Corporate Representative – Asia Pacific of Toshiba Corporation, and the Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. Prior to that he was instrumental in developing initiatives to steer Toshiba towards becoming a cyber-physical systems (CPS) technology company as the Deputy General Manager of the Digital Transformation Strategy Acceleration Division.

Mr. Maruyama graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University with a B.A in Political Science.
