The interest level of copier dealers moving into the Cloud Document Management (DM) market is monumental. The reason is simple – dealers know that if they don’t offer products that improve their customers’ business practices or reduce risk, their competition will.

George Waddell, Director of Technology Solutions at Business World presented Think Outside the Box at the recent ITEX show. The large attendance at this session is proof enough that he is onto something and dealers want to learn more.

His message was clear:  your customers are actively looking for cloud software solutions to improve back- and front-office business processes, reduce their business risk, and get compliance under control. They understand how important these issues are, not only to survive but to prosper and stay ahead of the competition as well. As a valued and trusted vendor to them, delivering a comprehensive solution is priceless.

If you’re thinking “document management technology is too hard to sell, it takes too long, and is too expensive to get involved”, think again. George easily put those concerns to rest by pointing out how far this industry has come, thanks to cloud backup and storage.

  1. Local installations are no longer necessary; users can now launch it via any web browser on any computer, laptop or mobile device.
  2. Cloud solutions offer flexibility with full-set functionality or pre-defined feature sets tailored to specific departmental or vertical needs.
  3. The threshold to onramp a user is low with lower startup costs than an on-premises version.
  4. With deployment and administration being done automatically and remotely, users can be assured that they are always using the most advanced technology available.

Online subscription-based products are not a new concept so this won’t hold back sales. Customers have already become familiar with purchasing them in both their personal and business lives – think iTunes and Adobe.

For you as the dealer, the market opportunity is great. As George said, the important key to remember is “Partner with a vendor that will work hard along-side you to make you successful.”
